Fes - Marrakesh and the desert in the middle

A horseshoe trip between Fes and Marrakesh

10 days - 9 nights

Two cities, two worlds

A horseshoe trip, touching the most beautiful and intense cities of Morocco, Fes and Marrakesh, and crossing the Atlas Mountains with peaks over two thousand meters to reach, and finally reaching the desert after the “Gorges” (canyon) of the Ziz river. Then you will camp on the big dunes and admire the architecture in “pisè” (raw-earth technique) of Todra and Dades rivers’ valley, and the masterpiece of Ait Ben Haddou. You will arrive finally at Marrakesh, getting lost in the magic atmosphere of the city and the marvellous square Jemaa El Fna.

Fountains, doors, mosques, shops, people…. a real kaleidoscope. And then the tanners quarter with dozens of colored tanks. Free dinner and lunch.

Comfortable bivouac accommodation (showers, sanitary facilities), double- bed camp tent. Dinner at the tent camp.

Located on a cliff , full of Kasbha, almost twenty, interconnected and dominated by a mighty fortress with crenellated towers. You’ll drive back to take the road that goes to the Atlas. Going up , you’ll meet small villages and the magnificence of the peaks of the Altas chain. The road gets to the highest point of about 2000 mts and down to Marrakech, the landscape losing gradually its mountain features. Arrival and accommodation in a “riad”. Evening dedicated to wander around Jema el-Fna Square and the Medina . Free dinner.

Day 9 - Marrakesh

Breakfast. The city is loved by all Moroccans for the temperate climate and the beauty of the mountains that surround it. The Medina, the Koutoubia Tower, Madrasa Ben Youssef: there are tons of places to visit and to be seduced by….. But above all, the square Jema-el-Fna, the Moroccan place for excellence. A square that is almost insignificant in the day, it becomes in the evening totally another place. Stand where you can buy local food, fortune – tellers, musicians, snake charmers, story tellers….
