La ruta de Chan Chan

A special itinerary, almost an adventure, to discover the authentic Cuba
15 days - 14 nights

Cuba sea

Discover the old Cuba, into the “lejano oriente” of the traditional songs. Across the Island, start from the capital L’Havana to Remedios, stopping by S.Clara to pay tribute to Che Guevara in his suggestive mausoleum. Then you’ll visit Camaguey, with its fascinating atmosphere that preludes to the Orient of the island. Mayarì, the place we dreamed about listening to Compay Segundo’s song “Chan Chan”: a small village embedded between the mountains and the waterfalls that can be reached through Cueto…. From now on, you’ll explore unpaved roads in the very heart of Cuba, that still beats for the Revolucion, where people cheers from the “carreton” smiling and asking you to take a picture… then held hast fast to your seats because you are going to discover an exclusive place few people know about: Cayo Saetia. Definitely off the mass tourism maps, the cayo overlooks the Bahia de Nipe and it can be reached only passing through an African savannah-like landscape (many animals were introduced into this habitat such as zebras, gazelles, ostriches that will really make you believe to be in Africa!). After this unexpectedly exotic landscape, you will face the most crystaline water of whole Cuba. Your tour proceeds, passing by Moa and its nickel mines, though cocoa and coconut palm forests, and finally you will reach Baracoa, which in Tainos language means “place of waters”: it is crossed by more than 20 rivers, such as Rio Toa, Miel and Duaba. Our local driver will show you the luxurious nature of this enchanting place and its people, “el alma de Cuba”. From Baracoa you will keep on going to the Cuban eastern capital, Santiago, “la cuna del son”, “el corazon de la Revolucion”, a city of incomparable charme. From there you’ll start to close the circle, back to Havana: the historic Bayamo, Sancti Spiritu, the unique Trinidad, the ancient city you would never leave..... On your way back to Havana , you’ll stop to visit the French-style, elegant Cienfuegos.
