Tuscany is one of the cradles of Western civilization. Colonized by the Etruscans until the 8th century B.C. and later by the Romans, has represented the highest peaks of science, art, philosophy, literature during various centuries. All this has left an indelible mark in the soul and in the life of the Tuscans, who enjoy good food, good wine and well-made things: the juice of life. Craftsmanship and manufacturing reach high quality levels, Italian fashion, strongly represented here, is one example. The cities of art Pisa, Siena, Arezzo, Lucca, Pistoia, Florence are destinations for tourism from all over the world and show proudly their “ made in Italy”. In only one week you will be able to penetrate the many faces of Tuscany: starting from Florence , you will cross the Chianti marvellous countryside (also called “Chiantiside”), driving on winding roads in the middle of sweet hills where grapes, olive trees and wheat have been cultivated for centuries. You’ll visit enchanting small villages, the hills called “ Crete Senesi” and the thermal area, Monteriggioni with its fortress dated back to 1200, Siena and its fine art, San Gimignano and its medieval towers, the Etruscan city of Volterra . Then you’ll drive downhill towards the surprising Etruscan coast, and on your way back you’ll stop in Pisa to admire the Leaning Tower , and will finally fall in love with the unique Florence.
Arrival in Italy. You will be received by our staff at the "Amerigo Vespucci" airport. You will be given the tools to stay in touch with Color Travels during your trip, your documents, your car and you will get to your accommodation, on the hills overlooking the city, in a green and quiet area.
Day 2 - The Florentine Chianti
Breakfast. Departure in direction of the sweet hills of the Florentine Chianti. You could visit the world famous Cantine Antinori *, a family of winemakers since 1385. Mandatory stop in the beautiful village of Badia a Passignano and at Greve in Chianti, where you can have a nice walk to the castle of Montefioralle, founded in 1085. Then you’ll be waited for in “Conca d 'oro”, where a wine of high quality is produced by the producer Monte Bernardi *: you’ll enjoy a surprising visit to the winery , tasting local products. Overnight in a typical Tuscan stone house in the countryside surrounding Panzano in Chianti. Dinner in the house.
Day 3 - The Chianti Senese
Breakfast and departure to the Chianti area, in the province of Siena. You will visit Castellina, Radda and Gaiole in Chianti. Not to be missed a stop at Monastery of Badia a Coltibuono * and Castello di Brolio * to taste the best historical reserves of Chianti Classico wine. You’ll continue southwards passing by Castelnuovo Berardenga and arriving at Rapolano Terme where you can enjoy thermal baths at the local historical spa. Accommodation in the area. Dinner in the hotel.
Day 4 - Siena, its “Crete” and the Tirreno coast
Breakfast. You will admire the magical morning outline of “ Crete Senesi” while traveling to Siena and its medieaval architecture . Then a stop in Monteriggioni and its fortification walls dated back to 1200, and at Castel San Gimignano, famous all over the world . From now on , as you drive towards the coast, landscape becomes harsher. You’ll see the enchanting Volterra, a city founded in the seventh century B.C. by the Etruscans, that dominates the surrounding hills and looks towards the coast. Finally you will arrive in the neighbourhood of Bolgheri, where your lodge among the hills touched by the sea breeze will be waiting for you. Dinner in the lodge.
Day 5 - The Tyrrhenian coast
Breakfast. Spend your time on the beach, and swim in the emerald green waters of Baratti or San Vincenzo; visit the Castle of Populonia, and have lunch enjoying the local fresh fish in Piombino, or relax at the Venturina spa. Suggestion: a visit and tasting of wines in Bolgheri (visit to the cellars and tasting € 30 adults, € 7.50 from 6 to 17 years). Same accommodation as the day before. Free dinner.
Day 6 - Pisa and Florence
Breakfast. Driving through another fascinating area of Tuscan countryside, you will arrive at Pisa, to adnìmire thee Leaning Tower and the wonderful Piazza dei Miracoli. Then , following the Arno river valley, you will reach Florence. Accommodation downtown. Car release. Free dinner.
Day 7 – Florence
Breakfast. Spent the whole day in the Renaissance city which it is estimated to contain about 35% of the world's artistic heritage. A personal professional guide is available on request. Overnight same as the previous day. Free dinner.
Day 8 - Airport
Breakfast. Taxi to the airport* (time to be defined depending on your flight schedule).
